  On November 20th 2014 Russian Trade Representation in Sweden for the fourth time held an annual Swedish-Russian Investment Forum. The event was held in cooperation with the State Corporation “Bank for Development and Foreign Economic Affairs (Vnesheconombank)”, as a development institution operating to diversify the Russian economy and support small and medium-sized enterprises. Vnesheconombank is also the leading organization of the Russian part of the Russian-Swedish Business Council – public formation of business circles of two countries.
   This year the Forum was held under the motto “Promising projects: way towards innovations”. Its main objective is to promote a successful and mutually beneficial Russian-Swedish economic cooperation in the broadest sense.

   Traditionally the main tasks of the Forum are to discuss current areas of the Russian-Swedish trade, investment and technological cooperation, as well as the presentation of Russian innovative projects with a view to establish direct contacts with the Swedish potential partners for joint implementation.
   The central event of the Forum was the plenary session in which representatives of the Russian-Swedish business community and Russian federal and regional authorities gave their presentations and further discussions took place.

   Among the participants in the Forum were such large well-known corporations and organizations as Ministry of Economic Development of Russian Federation, Vnesheconombank, Agency for Strategic Initiatives, Avtovaz, Ericsson, Oriflame, Sweco, Business Sweden, Skolkovo, St. Peter Line, as well as representatives of Tula region, Kaluga region, Novgorod region, Republic of Komi, Udmurtia and others.
The plenary session consisted not only of presentations, speeches and discussions, but also B2B negotiations between Russian and Swedish companies on specific promising cooperation projects.

   At the invitation of the Russian Trade Representation the Forum was attended by President of Avtovaz Bo Andersson and other representatives of the company’s management. Bo Andersson presented a comprehensive modernization program of Avtovaz and strategic challenges facing the company. He also took part in the negotiations with the management of the Swedish investment company East Capital and Lada Scandinavia AB. Negotiations were organised by the Trade Representation. On the territory of the Trade Representation exhibition of new models of Avtovaz cars (ready for export) was organised. The Forum was chosen by the company as a place for the announcement of the resumption of supplies to Sweden of the LADA cars in 2015.

   As the result of the Forum certain agreements for cooperation and mutual projects implementations were reached between Russian and Swedish participants.
