On the 18th of April in Göteborg was hold a meeting in frames of the Working Group for Cooperation in the Space field of the Russian-Swedish Steering Committee on Trade and Economic Cooperation. The meeting was chaired by Director of the International Cooperation Department of the Russian State Corporation “Roskosmos” N. Lokteva and CEO of the Swedish National Space Board O. Norberg.
The parties discussed issues of cooperation between the countries in the field of space, including deployment of ground-based measuring stations of the global navigation system GLONASS in Sweden, as well as the launch of Swedish scientific satellites using Russian Soyuz rocket carriers. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Trade Representative of the Russian Federation in Sweden V. Frolov, Consul General of the Russian Federation in Gothenburg V. Barabanov, representatives of the Russian company “Glavkosmos” and Swedish companies “RUAG Space” and “GKN Aerospace Engine Systems”.
Next meeting will be hold in Russia in 2018.

Kemerovo Oblast is one of Russia’s most important industrial regions, with some of the world’s largest deposits of coal. The south of the region is dominated by metallurgy and the mining industry, as well as mechanical engineering and chemical production. The northern area of the region is more agricultural. The region has a dense railway network, including the Trans-Siberian Railway, which passes through the oblast. Prokopevsk, Kiselevsk, and Andzhero-Sudzhensk are coal-producing centers, and Novokuznetsk is the center of the engineering industry.

Trade representation of the Russian Federation in the Kingdom of Sweden April 12, 2017 held a reception on the occasion of 90-th anniversary. The number of participants was more than 120 guests.

Trade Representative A. Katasov expressed condolences on the terrorist attack in Stockholm on April 7, 2017. In his greeting speech he highlighted the objectives and activities of the Trade Representation at the present stage, taking into account the formation of a new image of the trade representations. Mr. Katasov stressed the importance of cooperation in the trade and economic spheres between countries, including anticorruption and economic crimes cooperation.

For the first time in more than 20 years the event was attended by a member of the Government of Sweden, the chairperson of the Swedish part of the Russian-Swedish Steering Committee on Trade and Economic Cooperation, Minister of EU Affairs and Trade Ann Linde. She congratulated the Trade Representation with the anniversary and noted that Russia is an important trade and investment partner of Sweden and she expressed hope for an improvement in the bilateral business climate.

A. Katasov and A. Linde discussed the prospects for the activation of the Russian-Swedish Steering Committee on Trade and Economic Cooperation, including the possibility of holding a meeting of its co-chairs in the first half of September this year.

The reception was also attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Kingdom of Sweden V. Tatarintsev, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Kingdom of Sweden D. Yeleukenov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to the Kingdom of Sweden A. Apitonian, senior diplomats of the embassies of Belarus and Bulgaria, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sweden and the Ministry of Industry of Sweden, representatives of other official organizations and business-community.

On 19th June – 24th June 2017 in Kursk will take place XVII Interregional universal wholesale and retail fair “Kurskaya Korenskaya fair – 2017”.

The Fair is a place for business negotiations of the representatives of the enterprises (national and international), business meetings and discussions about interregional and foreign economic relations, exhibitions of the innovative products of such industries as manufacturing, automobile engineering housing, security, education, environment, natural resources, finance, transport, communication, food and farming.

In the framework of the Fair VI Central Russian Economic Forum (www.sef-kursk.ru) is planned to be held on the 16th of June 2017. On April 5, 2017 the Deputy of Trade Representative of the Russian Federation in the Kingdom of Sweden Mr. Kolesnik participated in a seminar “Career, the business and employment of Russian-speaking youth” organized by the Union of the Russian societies of Sweden.

In his speech the Deputy of Trade Representative told to audience about role of the Trade Representation in development of trade and economic relations between Russia and Sweden; directions of development of bilateral trade and economic relations; forms of support of the export-oriented companies in Russia (RETs, EKSAR). Besides, he covered the measures taken by the Russian Federation for implementation of provisions of the OECD Convention on fight against bribery of foreign public officials at implementation of the international business activity, emphasized the importance of collective initiatives of the unions and associations of businessmen on consolidation of efforts of the companies on prevention of bribery, and also joint activity of public authorities and business in the sphere of anti-corruption.
